Beyond Hackathon is part of Eurobank Innovation Center’s initiatives designed to spark, cultivate and promote open innovation in the Financial Services industry by working collaboratively with the global startup community.

Beyond Hackathon is a regional FinTech Hackathon, bringing together Global Industry Leaders and regional startup ecosystem participants, aiming to develop a generation of FinTech companies that will build products & services to transform customer experience with the use of Eurobank APIs.

Apply today for a chance to pitch your idea, build innovative products & services and co-create the future of digital banking!

2016

In June 2016, Eurobank’ s Innovation Center organized BeyondHackathon, the first regional FinTech Hackathon. We welcomed 150 attendees from Greece, but also from Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia even the UK. It was an awesome weekend. Software developers, marketers, designers & business developers joined us at the Hub Events on Friday evening. After a few inspirational speeches, the pitching sessions began where people had the opportunity to briefly (1min max) share their idea /project so as to raise interest among the crowd. At the networking session that followed, while enjoying pizzas and beers, pitchers tried to lure participants into their team to bring their idea into life!

Hacking began on Saturday morning! The 18 groups of 4-5 individuals formed, dived into their laptops trying to turn their ideas into meaningful products. Mentoring sessions with industry, subject matter experts and bank professionals were held in parallel in order to answer questions and provide guidance. Saturday evening found teams struggling to find ways to make their project add value and by Sunday morning, having experienced mood resembling a rollercoaster, most teams had managed to not only evolve their idea but also create a working prototype!

Later on Sunday evening, 16 teams who had actually managed to not only create a demo of their product or service but also prepare their sales pitch, presented the result of their effort to the judging panel as well as the rest of the participants & visitors. Soon after all the presentations were completed, the judging committee awarded the prizes to the 3 winning teams!

What a weekend! Life-changing, creative, inspiring, educative, full, exciting - these are only a few of the words chosen by the participants to describe their experience. 18 teams worked hard to deliver ideas that aimed to change financial services and bring new aspects of usability. BeyondHackathon was a great event and we can’t wait to do it again this year. Stay tuned, BeyondHackathon 2017 is coming soon!
